My bicycle is my almost-exclusive mode of transportation in Chicago, but it was never that way. I gave up my car when I moved to Chicago in September of 2001 for the first five years, I diligently took the Chicago Transportation Authority bus and train system. I started riding my bike everywhere on a regular basis in the summer of 2006 because I was sick of slow trains and buses as well as the constant stench of urine and fast food, as well as the sight of sunflower seed hulls all over the place.
